STANDISH, Maine – Sophomore Jordyn Ringuette (Colchester, Conn.) scored with 41 seconds left in the first overtime period to lift Regis College (9-1, 7-0 GNAC) past Saint Joseph's College (6-5, 6-2 GNAC), 11-10, at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks held an 8-5 lead early in the second half before the Pride scored five unanswered goals to claim a 10-8 advantage with 7:32 remaining in regulation. Sophomore Lydia Dexter (Oakland, Maine) hit pay-dirt with 3:21 left and freshman Logan Champlin (Alfred, Maine) converted a free-position shot with 53 seconds on the clock to force extra play.
St. Joe's had several opportunities to clinch the win in overtime, as junior Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) was rewarded with a pair of free-position attempts but the first bid was turned away by Regis sophomore keeper Brittany McPherson (Lynn, Mass.) and the second shot sailed high.
Saint Joseph's opened the game with a 6-2 lead as Dexter and sophomore Josie Ring (Newfield, Maine) scored two apiece in the opening 12 minutes of play. Regis fought back into the game with three-consecutive strikes and faced a 7-5 deficit heading into intermission.
THE KEEPERS:
SJC freshman Madelyn Nelson (Casco, Maine) made six saves in the loss while McPherson totaled seven stops on the afternoon.
TEAM STATS:
The Monks held a 28-20 lead in shots with a 13-9 edge in draw controls while the Pride posted a 27-23 advantage in ground balls and won the turnover battle, 20-28.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Dexter tallied three goals with five draw controls and two ground balls
- Ring scored three goals on as many shots
- Senior Kayla Kelly (York, Maine) added two goals and six draw controls
- Senior Kara Kelly (York, Maine) contributed a goal and two assists with two ground balls
- Beaulieu dealt three assists
- Champlin and sophomore Liz Callahan (Scarborough, Maine) picked up five ground balls apiece

- Senior Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) scored three goals with an assist and three draw controls
- Senior Taylor Assarian (Arlington, Mass.) scored twice and was credited with two assists
- Ringuette notched a hat trick, including the OT winner
- Junior Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) added a goal and three assists
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the result Saint Joseph's falls to 6-3 all-time versus Regis College and has now lost to the Pride in three-consecutive meetings.
