Beaulieu Scores in Overtime, Monks Tip Eagles 1-0

BANGOR, ME – Senior forward Ashley Beaulieu (Gorham, Maine) broke a scoreless deadlock with a goal off a Lauren Titus (Arundel, Maine) pass in the eighth minute of overtime to lift Saint Joseph's (1-0-0) past Husson University (0-1-0) in the second game of the 9th Annual Husson Classic on Saturday afternoon.

The clinching score came at the 97:13 mark when Titus sent a pass to Beaulieu, who took a shot that clanged off the crossbar and grazed the goal line to help the Royal Blue open the year on a successful note. The goal also provided first-year Head Coach Jenelle Harris with the first collegiate victory of her career.

Both teams maintained an even pace for the first 97 minutes, swapping possessions and opportunities. Jess Poulin (Albion, Maine) was strong in net for the Eagles, stopping nine shots on the afternoon. Saint Joseph's senior keeper Jaci Lorenzen (Windham, Maine) earned the win after registering a pair of saves in the 2013 opener.

Saint Joseph's resumes play in the Husson Classic with an 11:00 AM contest versus Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday. Husson will face Western New England University at 1:30 PM tomorrow.
