WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer postseason accolades have been announced and three Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.
Junior forward Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) and senior defender Emily DeLuca (Gorham, Maine) have claimed First Team All-GNAC honors while senior midfielder Sarah Comtois (Lowell, Mass.) has earned Second Team mention.
DaGraca collects First Team honors for the third time in as many seasons after leading the Monks in goals (17), points (37), and game-winners (4) during her junior campaign. In just three years, DaGraca broke the Monks' career goals record with 50 tallies in 56 games (former record was 46 goals) and is tied for second in team history with 109 career points. She also owns the SJC career game-winning goals record with 13 clinchers.
DeLuca, a 2016 Second Team All-Conference selection, claims First Team honors after establishing career-highs in goals (5), points (12), and game-winners (2) during her senior season. A three-year starter on the Monks' backline and two-year team captain, DeLuca – who started in just one game as a freshman - developed into one of the elite defenders in the conference and started 59-consecutive games over her final three collegiate seasons.
Comtois earns Second Team All-Conference honors for the second-consecutive season after scoring two goals with two assists for six total points during her final collegiate campaign. The two-year team captain was a solidifying force in the middle of the field for St. Joe's, especially on jump balls, and her field vision often times led to a successful Monks' attack. A four-year starter, Comtois started all 77 games in which she played during her career and leaves the program ranked third all-time in games played.
Saint Joseph's, 13-6-1 overall and 7-3-1 in GNAC play this fall under the watch of fifth-year Head Coach Jenelle Harris, earned the #4 seed in the conference tournament and advanced to the semifinal round for the second-consecutive season with a 4-0 first-round triumph over #5 University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). The Monks season came to a close with a setback at the hands of top-seeded Lasell College on October 31st.
