BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College wrapped up the four-day 2019 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship at MIT on Sunday evening, with the men placing 12th with 73 points and the women finishing 19th with 143 points.
Four team records fell in the final event of the 2018-19 season, as freshman Ryan Watson (Bangor, Maine) broke the Monks' 1650-Free (18:18.29) and 1000-Free (10:42.57) and first-year Alirose Beauregard (Dover, N.H.) set new SJC records in the 50-Free (26.15) and 100-Free (56.92) events.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Senior Stephen Quinlan (Andover, Mass.) finished eighth in the 200-Breast with a 2:24.97 time and was 13th in the 100-IM (1:00.32)
- Watson finished 10th in the 1650-Free (18:18.29) and 12th in the 1000-Free (10:42.72)
- Quinlan, Watson, Nathan Landry (Derry, N.H.), and Joseph Nichols (Tyngsboro, Mass.) swam in four relay events, placing 10th in the 800-Free (8:06.59), 11th in the 400-Medley (4:10.01), and 12th in the 200-Medley (1:52.67) and 400-Free (3:37.25) events
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- Beauregard registered 31 individual points after placing 12th in the 100-IM (1:06.18), 17th in the 100-Free (56.92), and 18th in the 50-Free (26.15)
- Junior Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine) finished 19th in the 100-Back (1:06.81) and 23rd in the 200-Back (2:24.37) races
- Beauregard, Roy, Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine), and Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine) raced in four relay events, finishing 13th in the 400-Free (3:58.35), 14th in the 200-Free (1:48.71), 17th in the 400-Medley (4:38.07), and 18th in the 200-Medley (2:04.96), racking up 86 total points in the process
- Coiley, Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine), Hannah Kibbin (Augusta, Maine) and Hailey Bouyea (Lewiston, Maine) notched 18 points with an 18th-place finish in the 800-Free relay (9:57.83)
The completion of the 2019 NEISDA Championship brings an end to the collegiate careers of Stephen Quinlan and Julia Rowlett, a pair of four-year members of the SJC swim team.
