    PROVIDENCE, RI – Saint Joseph’s (17-14, 5-7 GNAC) fell to top-seeded Johnson & Wales (22-13, 11-1 GNAC), 3-0, in the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday night. Sarah Hawkes ’13 (Pownal, ME) produced seven kills and four digs in the Monks’ season-ending setback.

    STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph’s (6-2) won the SJC Autumn Invitational for the second consecutive season with a 3-0 victory over Wentworth Institute (2-5) in the tourney title match on Saturday. Sarah Hawkes ’13 (Pownal, ME) notched 13 digs, five aces and six total blocks, all game-highs, in the championship contest.

Holly Bannister ’14 (Cumberland, ME) notched 10 service aces in the pair of Royal Blue victories.

    NORTON, MA – Saint Joseph’s (2-2) completed the Wheaton College Invitational Tournament with a win and two losses on Saturday. The Monks topped Wentworth Institute, 3-2, before falling to Emerson College and Wheaton by 3-0 scores in the team’s final two matches. Kiah Begley ’13 (Berwick, ME/Saint Thomas Aquinas) handed out 53 assists in the three contests.

    GORHAM, ME – Saint Joseph’s (1-0) defeated University of Southern Maine (0-1), 3-1, in the 2010 volleyball opener for both teams at Hill Gymnasium on Wednesday evening. Sarah Hawkes ’13 (Pownal, ME) registered a match-high 11 kills for the Monks, who rallied to win three straight after dropping the first game to the Huskies.
