Although St. Joe's fell 3-0 to the Lions, the young Monks proved they could play with the reigning conference champs and should gain confidence from the effort. The Monks wrapped up the day with a 3-0 loss to the Lyons and again showed promise after dropping a disappointing opening set. Hawkes recorded five kills, 12 digs and three blocks and Begley notched 17 assists for the Royal Blue.

Saint Joseph's will participate in tournament play again next weekend, as the Monks host the SJC Autumn Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The tournament consolation game will take place at 12:00 PM while the championship will be played at 1:30 PM.
