Monks Roll Past Eagles, 3-0

BANGOR, ME – Saint Joseph's College (15-4, 5-1 GNAC) rolled past Husson University (8-14, 0-1 NAC), 3-0, in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Wednesday evening. Sophomore middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) belted a match-high 14 kills in the SJC victory.

In a match that required just over an hour to complete, the Monks posted 25-12, 25-12 and 25-16 set victories en route to claiming the team's ninth-consecutive triumph over the Eagles. Off to a fantastic start to the season, Saint Joseph's entered the day having lost two of the last three matches but look to regain their swagger with a convincing victory against their in-state rivals.

Wachowiak enjoyed one of her finest outings of the season with 14 kills and only three errors in 24 bids for a spectacular .458 attack percentage. Freshman Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, Maine) added seven kills and nine digs while Holly Bannister (Cumberland, Maine), Shadai Gosselin (Somersworth, N.H.) and Mariah Hebert (Biddeford, Maine) contributed three kills apiece on the evening.

Hebert also contributed 25 assists and seven digs while Gosselin tallied eight digs and three service aces in the victory. Sophomore Abbie McPhee (Epping, N.H.) posted four aces and six digs and Erica Russi (Debary, Fla.) chipped in with 10 digs for the visitors.

Saint Joseph's will play Wheaton College and Eastern Connecticut State University in a non-conference tri-match on the Wheaton campus in Norton, Massachusetts on Saturday. The Monks tackle the Lyons at 1:00 PM and cap the day with a 3:00 PM match versus the Warriors.
