STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College (15-6, 5-1 GNAC) toppled University of Maine-Presque Isle (0-12), 3-0 (25-13, 25-5, 25-9) in a non-conference volleyball match at the Harold Alfond Center on Monday afternoon. Sophomore middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) boasted 13 kills with an otherworldly .812 attack percentage in the one-sided victory.
The Monks led from start to finish in the shutout triumph and registered a stellar .429 attack rate - with 34 kills and just seven errors in 63 chances as a team - in the triumph. The attack percentage posted by Wachowiak ranks as the highest mark recorded by a Saint Joseph's player in team history.
Freshman Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, Maine) also enjoyed a strong match with seven kills and a .667 attack percentage while senior captain Erica Russi (Debary, Fla.) notched 17 digs and freshman setter Mariah Hebert (Biddeford, Maine) tallied 29 assists, seven digs and a pair of service aces on the afternoon. Sophomore Alli Hollander (Thermal, Calif.) added five kills and two aces, freshman Shadai Gosselin (Somersworth, N.H.) posted three service aces and five digs, and Marissa Peart (Farmington, N.H.) chipped in with four kills and four digs for the hosts.
For the Owls, Shannon Brown recorded three kills and two aces, Randi Kaplan added three assists and Shaina Hood tallied eight digs.
