NEWTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (23-5, 7-3 GNAC) split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match at Mount Ida College on Saturday. The Monks opened the day with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-22) win over the host-Mustangs (10-16, 2-7 GNAC) and suffered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-22) defeat at the hands of reigning GNAC Champion Rivier University (24-5, 10-0 GNAC).

Saint Joseph's Maine 3, Mount Ida 0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-22)

Double-doubles from Kristy Walton (Fairhaven, Mass.) and Mary Kate Reidy (Agawam, Mass.) were not enough to help the Mustangs avoid a defeat at the hands of Saint Joseph's. Walton tallied 11 kills and 11 digs, while Reidy recorded 10 kills and 13 digs, with each player adding two service aces.

Senior Taylor Davis (Machiasport, Maine) picked up 29 assists, and junior Molly Alkinburg (Port Deposit, Md.) added seven kills in a losing effort and senior Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, N.H.) had a game-high 17 digs.

Rivier 3, Mount Ida 0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-20)

Reidy piled up 11 more kills and Koolman again led all players with 15 digs, but the Mustangs couldn't stop the Raiders offense, particularly in the first set when Rivier hit a flawless 17-0-31 for a .548 attacking percentage.

Long-time teammates Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, Mass.) and junior Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the Raiders with with eleven and ten kills, respectively, and Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) piled up 20 assists in the win, while libero Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) had 14 digs and served 3 of Rivier's eight service aces.

Rivier 3, Saint Joseph's 0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-22)

Silverman (10 kills) and Pisecco (11 kills) were each in double-digits again, joined by junior Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.), who also had ten kills, and set up by the 32 assists from O'Reilly, who added 11 digs in the win, one of four Raiders players in double-digits in that category.
