WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby College (2-1) defeated Saint Joseph's College (0-8), 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-19) in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Tuesday night.
Senior Kelsey Bickford (Somersworth, N.H.) and junior Erin Olson (Stoughton, Mass.) produced six kills apiece in the setback while junior Madison Provencher (Rochester, N.H.) registered 18 digs and freshman Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) added 11 assists, two aces, and six digs for the Monks.
Senior Bailey Gryskwicz (Standish, Maine) chipped in with seven digs on the evening.
Junior outside hitter Elizabeth Middlebrook (Ridgefield, Conn.) led the Mules with 14 kills on 30 attempts for a .433 attack percentage and freshman setter Morgan Selby (Cumberland, Maine) notched 28 assists in the victory.
Saint Joseph's opens Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Saturday with an 11:00 AM match at Rivier University. The Monks will face Bates College in the second game of the tri-match at 1:00 PM.
