Huntley Returns to SJC as Assistant Volleyball Coach

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College women's volleyball Head Coach Jon Roberts has announced that Tori Huntley '17 has been hired as an assistant coach.

Huntley, a four-year starter for the SJC volleyball program, returns to her alma mater after serving as an assistant at Southern Maine for the last three seasons. The recent graduate brings a wealth of coaching experience to the position, as she has worked with the Maine Juniors Volleyball Club since 2013 and has served as the 16 National Travel Team, which is consistently ranked among the top teams in the region, for several years.

"I am excited for the opportunity to bring my knowledge and enthusiasm to this growing program and look forward to becoming an established part of the team," says Huntley. "Coach Roberts has the potential to lead the program to unforeseen success and I believe in his philosophy and methods. As an alumnus of Saint Joseph's College and former captain of the volleyball team, I can speak firsthand about how special the school's academic and athletic programs really are."

As an outside hitter for the Monks, Huntley tallied 798 kills, 1,015 digs and 124 service aces while playing in 105 matches (362 sets) during her time on the court. She currently ranks among the program's all-time leaders in kills (4th), kills per set (2.2, 4th), points (952, 4th), total attacks (2,729, 5th), digs (7th), digs per set (2.8, 7th), and attack percentage (.151, 9th).

A two-time All-Conference selection, Huntley posted her best season in 2015, when as a junior she helped the Monks post a 27-6 overall record while recording career-bests in kills (268) and digs (349).

"I am very excited to have Tori joining our coaching staff," adds Roberts. "She loved her time as a student-athlete at Saint Joseph's and feels strongly about both the institution and the volleyball program. She is an amazing coach who is always pushing herself and her players to be better than they were before and is constantly questioning, learning, and growing. I think we are going to work together very well!"
