ON THIS DATE: Monks Rally to Top Huskies in Five Sets

On September 17th, 2015 the Saint Joseph's College volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat University of Southern Maine, 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 15-7), in a non-conference match in Gorham.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Riding a six-game winning streak, the Monks faced the prospect of dropping their first match of the season, but fought back to tie the contest with a 25-21 fourth-set win and raced out to a 9-1 lead in the fifth frame en route to posting a 15-7 triumph and 3-2 match victory
  • Senior middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) paced the SJC offense with 21 kills and added four total blocks
  • Sophomore setter Mariah Hebert (Biddeford, Maine) dealt 48 assists with eight digs
  • Junior outside hitter Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, Maine) notched a double-double with 14 kills and 19 digs
  • Freshman libero Jenelle Thompson (Rochester, N.H.) posted 24 digs
  • All Saint Joseph's teams have combined to notch a 17-20 (.460) record on this date
