Women Place Sixth in UNE Invite

BIDDEFORD, ME – The SJC women's cross country team notched a sixth-place finish in the University of New England Invitational at Rotary Park on Saturday. Freshman Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) recorded an impressive 21:38 effort and placed 13th out of 125 runners in the yearly race.

University of Southern Maine, buoyed by placing six runners in the top eight, netted an easy team victory with only 21 points on the day. The runner-up program, host University of New England, finished over 50 points behind the Huskies with 73 team points despite rostering the individual champion, Michaela Moran, who circled the course in 20:40 to claim top honors.

Rounding out the top five competing institutions were Gordon College (112), Husson University (116) and Endicott College (131).

For St. Joe's, freshman Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) placed 18th (22:03), senior Ashley Condon (Sumner, Maine) was 34th (23:15), sophomore Audrey Curry (Perry, Maine) finished 39th (23:29), and freshman Riley Jones (Winslow, Maine) finished in 76th place (25:20).

Freshman Lauren Smith (North Kingstown, R.I.) (26:22, 90th), sophomore Melissa Deplanche (Dover, N.H.) (28:19, 104th), senior Cally Hughes (Waterville, Vt.) (29:39, 112th), senior Lauren Tidd (Walpole, Mass.) (32:19, 118th), and junior Sarah Bakun (Clinton, Mass.) (32:45, 119th) also competed in the event for Saint Joseph's.

The Monks are off until Friday, September 21st when the teams participate in the Rivier College Invitational in Nashua, New Hampshire.
