WESTFIELD, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College wrapped up the 2016 cross country season with an appearance in the NCAA DIII New England Regional at Stanley Park on Saturday. The men finished 43rd with 1280 points in the 8K race while the women placed 50th with 1467 points in the 6K event.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Senior Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) placed 163rd with a 27:34 time
- Junior Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) was 176th with a 27:40 effort
- Freshman Jacob Boissonnault (Biddeford, Maine) finished 306th (30:07)
- Freshman Connor White (Bayport, N.Y.) was 320th (30:33)
- First-year Ben Plante (Biddeford, Maine) placed 328th (30:48)
- Freshman Kevin McWilliams (New Milford, Conn.) finished 349th (31:54)
- Freshman Andrew D'Ovidio (Walpole, Mass.) was 353rd (32:34)
OVERVIEW:
MIT and Williams College both posted 110 team points in the regional race, but the Engineers held the advantage over the Ephs in the top three finishing spots among each team's five scoring runners to claim the tiebreaker. For MIT, the win counts as the program's second regional crown and first since 2010.
Amherst College placed third (141 points), Middlebury College was fourth (153), and Tufts University rounded out the top five with 159 points.
Tufts senior Tim Nichols claimed the individual title with a 23:54 time, 34 seconds faster than the runner-up, MIT senior Matt Deyo, who toured the 8K course in 24:28.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- Sophomore Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) led the Monks with a 24:35 time and finished 191st overall
- Senior Marisa Lundy (Merrimac, Mass.) placed 278th (26:01)
- Freshman Analyse Harris (Windham, Maine) was 337th (27:13)
- Freshman Mckenzie Pepin (Windham, Maine) finished 342nd (27:37)
- Sophomore Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) placed 344th (27:41)
- Freshman Mackenzie Beaudoin (Fayette, Maine) was 353rd (28:03)
- First-year Sydney Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) finished 364th (28:41)
OVERVIEW:
MIT completed the sweep with 68 points after placing all five scorers in the top 25 individually. Williams College finished second with 71 points, while Tufts University was third (77), Middlebury College placed fourth (149), and Bates College was fifth (167).
Tufts junior Brittany Bowman won the race individually with a 21:14 performance, just two seconds ahead of MIT freshman Megan McCandless (21:16).
