Strength and Conditioning

Mission 

The Saint Joseph’s College Strength & Conditioning Program supports the mission of both the Athletic Department and the College. In addition, the Strength & Conditioning Program is committed to providing athletes with an opportunity to maximize their potential during competition as well as in life. In the process of development, athletes become more injury resilient and increase their performance in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.

Jameson Collins, Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Jamie Collins was named the first Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Saint Joseph's during the 2020-2021 academic year. Collins will be tasked with designing and implementing a strength and conditioning program that will accommodate every student-athlete on all 21 athletic teams.

Collins previously was an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of New England and served as Interim Coordinator for a three-month stretch during the 2019-2020 academic year. Prior to his time at UNE, Collins served as a Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coach with the Kansas City Royals Baseball Organization. He also served as a Graduate Assistant at Springfield College.

A 2017 graduate of Saint Joseph's with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Collins was a member of the Monks Baseball team during his time on campus and a captain during his senior season. He was also awarded the Neile Nelson Award during his senior year. After graduation, he went on to earn a Master of Education in Strength & Conditioning from Springfield College in 2019.

Additionally, Collins holds certifications from the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and USA Weightlifting Certified Coach.

Responsibilities for the position will entail assisting in the implementation of all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs for 22 Varsity Sports. Interns will assist with all strength, speed, and conditioning training, as well as weight room maintenance and upkeep.

Note: This is an unpaid position.

Preferred Qualifications: Working towards a bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing CSCS or relevant certification.

Required Qualifications: Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to learn and pursue a career in Strength and Conditioning.
