Baseball’s Incoming Class of 2024 Released

STANDISH, Maine – Head Coach Will Sanborn is pleased to announce the baseball Class of 2024.

The ten-player Class of 2024 brings players from six different states and features three pitchers, four infielders, two outfielders and a catcher. The incoming group figures to add both talent and depth to the Monks' roster as St. Joe's prepares to defend the 2019 GNAC Championship next spring.

"I'm very excited about our 2020 recruiting class," adds Coach Sanborn. "This group is extremely talented and filled with character guys who are also strong students. I'm really looking forward to seeing them in action this fall on Larry Mahaney Diamond!"

Brian Berthiaume
Major: Business Communications
Position: Pitcher

Why Saint Joseph's? I chose Saint Joseph's because I liked the community on campus and location.

High School: Played varsity baseball for Head Coach Adam Lawrence at Goffstown High School…Named as the team's Pitcher of the Year following his junior season.

Community Service: Took part in putting together thanksgiving baskets and Christmas baskets for families in need through the church in New Boston.

Personal: Brian Christopher Berthiaume, son of Paul and Ann Berthiaume.

Logan Butkins
Major: Environmental Science

Scituate, R.I. / Scituate High School

Why Saint Joseph's? The small class sizes and the environmental program.

High School: Played football, soccer, basketball, and baseball at Scituate High School...competed in the Division Championship in 2017...received First and Second Team All-Division for football and baseball...was listed on the honor roll...played club basketball for four years.

Community Service: Helped with Scituate booster club.

Personal: Logan Alexander Butkins...son of  Diane and Petter...brother to Jeremy, Zander, and Zachary.

Connor Crean
Major: Sports Management

Why Saint Joseph's? My best fit both academically and baseball wise.

High School: Played baseball and football for Saint Paul Catholic High School and was a member of the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team playing DII...won the State Championship senior year...received All-State senior year. 

Community Service: Soup chicken, bread for life, salvation army bell ringing, march for life.

Personal: Connor Robert Crean...son of Deborah and Kevin Crean...brother to Sean and Megan Crean.

Morgen Doughty
Major: Sports Marketing

Why Saint Joseph's? I decided to choose Saint Joseph's because of the family feeling I got immediately during my first visit on campus.

High School: Played football, basketball, and baseball at Smithfield High School...2016 Babe Ruth State Champions 2016 and RBI Regional Champions....three-time starting catcher in high school all star game,awarded First Team All-Division twice as well as First Team All-State...listed on the honor roll...played club baseball for R.I. Bombers for one year, Bandits Baseball Club R.I. for four years, and Scorpions Baseball Club for one year.

Community Service: 35+ hours working with special needs children at my elementary school. Participated and fundraised for the "Noah Strong" whiffle ball tournament. Participated in I Fired Gym Class. I also have been giving baseball lessons for about three years for free.

Personal: Morgen Robert Doughty...son of Ame Thompson and Steven Doughty...brother to Ava Doughty.

Why Saint Joseph's? I liked the close community here at Saint Joseph's.

High School: Played baseball at Guilderland High School...reached Sectionals in 2019...was named varsity captain...played club for Frozen Ropes Outlaws for five years. 

Community Service: Coaching a baseball camp for less fortunate kids.

Personal: Malachi Christopher Flaherty...son of Stephanie and Matthew Flaherty...brother to Liam Flaherty.

 

Max Goodman
Major: Business Communications

Why Saint Joseph's? It was just a gut feeling. The second I drove in and saw some people and talked with people I immediately felt welcomed and that's when i knew this was the school for me.

High School: Played football, basketball, and baseball at Medfield High School...was named captain of the baseball team senior year...TVL Honorable Mention All-Star in 2019...received English Certificate honors...played club for Nokona Baseball for nine years.

Community Service: Council of aging (Shoveling people's driveways, helped move and clean out buildings), New life (helped move furniture), delivered groceries during Covid-19.

Personal: Max Joseph Goodman...son of Eric and Julia...brother to Jack and Lily Goodman.

Major: Medical Biology

Why Saint Joseph's? Baseball and the people.

High School: Participated in football, golf, nordic skiing, and baseball at Leavitt Area High School...competed in the Maine Golf State Championship...was named Defensive Player of the Year in baseball, Special Teams Player of the Year in football, and received the Team Comes First award in golf...listed on the high honor roll...played club baseball for Maine Lightning for four years.

Community Service: National Honors Society.

Personal: Elijah Aaron Lind...son of Danielle and Lauren Lind...brother to Noah and Aidan.

Why Saint Joseph's? A better fit athletically and academically and I have friends at SJC.

High School: Played baseball at Concord High School and New England College for two years...was MVP freshman year, was All-State selection and received defensive awards junior and senior year in high school...NECC Conference Championship, reached NCAA regional and NCAA super regional at New England College...listed on the Dean's list while at NEC...played club American Legion, three years all star selection.

Community Service: Helping elders at a church multiple times.

Personal: Ryan David Tessier...son of Tamara and Jason Tessier...brother to Ethan Tessier.

Why Saint Joseph's? I fell in love with the campus, they have a great criminal justice program, and a great baseball program.
