Stephens Earns Third GNAC Weekly Award

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman Luke Stephens (Glastonbury, Conn.) has been selected as the GNAC Baseball Rookie of the Week for the third time this spring.

Stephens hit .450 (9-20) with six runs, three doubles, a triple, and five RBI in a 4-1 week for the Monks. The freshman two-way player was instrumental in the Monks' 5-0 triumph over #11 University of Southern Maine on Wednesday when he tossed a pair of scoreless innings with three K's to earn the win in relief. For the week, he worked 2.2 scoreless innings with five strikeouts and two hits allowed.

Through 22 games this season, Stephens is hitting .278 (15-54) with 11 runs, four doubles, a triple, two home runs, and 11 RBI. On the mound, the freshman righthander is 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 15.1 innings.

Saint Joseph's (12-10, 3-1 GNAC) will host Fisher College tomorrow at 4:00 PM.
