STANDISH, Maine – The 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Baseball Teams have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.
Senior Jackson Stanton (Saugus, Mass.) and junior Luke Stephens (Glastonbury, Conn.) have been recognized for achieving academic excellence. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore status, be a starter or major contributor, and have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
A Third Team All-Conference selection, Stanton hit .352 (43-122) with 28 runs, nine doubles, five home runs, 29 RBI, and seven stolen bases in 37 games during the 2023 season. The team tri-captain established career highs in at-bats (122), runs, hits (43), doubles, home runs, RBI, steals, batting average, OBP (.420), and slugging percentage (.549) during his senior campaign.
Business & Sports Management major, Stanton has earned a pair of GNAC All-Academic awards and was recognized last week as a member of the Monks' first Chi Alpha Sigma (XAΣ) class.
Stephens claimed First Team All-Conference honors after posting a 3-2 record with a GNAC-best five saves and a 3.60 ERA while fanning 16 and walking only four batters in 15 innings across 15 relief appearances during his junior season. As a middle-of-the-order bat, Stephens hit .271 (35-129) with 17 runs, six doubles, two home runs, and 28 RBI as the Monks' primary third baseman this spring.
The Finance major claimed GNAC All-Academic honors following his sophomore year.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6 for softball and June 7 for baseball. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
