STANDISH, Maine – The 2023 D3baseball.com All-Region Teams have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have received honors.

Junior relief pitcher Luke Stephens (Glastonbury, Conn.) has collected Second Team All-Region 1 honors and freshman center fielder Jared Wilhelm (Tolland, Mass.) is listed on the Region 1 Third Team.

A 2023 First Team All-Conference selection, Stephens takes home D3baseball.com All-Region accolades after posting a 3-2 record with five saves and a 3.60 ERA with 16 strikeouts and only four walks in 15 innings across 15 outings during his junior season. Stephens hit .271 (35-129) with 17 runs, six doubles, two home runs, and 28 RBI as the Monks' primary third baseman this spring.

In 2021, Stephens garnered Third Team All-Region honors after being selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Year.

Wilhelm, a 2023 Third Team All-GNAC honoree, secures All-Region acclaim after posting one of the finest offensive seasons by a first-year player in recent memory. The fleet afoot outfielder hit .371 (49-132) with 30 runs, 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 26 RBI, and 12 stolen bases in 36 games during the 2023 campaign. Wilhelm's 1.012 OPS (OBP + SLG%) is the fourth highest ever recorded by an SJC freshman and best since the 2000 season when Jesse LaCasse '03 notched a 1.437 OPS.

Wilhelm ranked fourth in the GNAC in triples, eighth in total bases (77), and ninth in hits and stolen bases this spring.

This spring, Saint Joseph's posted an 18-22 overall record with a 9-9 mark in GNAC play en route to earning the #5 seed in the conference tournament. The Monks suffered a season-ending 4-1 setback at #4 Elms College on May 3rd.

One of the highlights during the program's first sub-.500 season since 2004 occurred on March 9th, when 31st-year Head Coach Will Sanborn '86 notched the 800th victory of his career with a 5-2 victory over the University of Mount Union in Auburndale, Florida. He was the 27th head coach in NCAA DIII Baseball history, and one of 11 active D3 skippers, to join the 800-win club.
