Newton, Mass.- The SJC field hockey squad posted a 3-1-1 record at a Spring Tournament hosted by Lasell College on Sunday.
The Monks lost only one game in the first round, earning second place out of eight teams. In game one, Darcy Ward scored both goals as the Monks defeated Regis 2-0 and Julia Ostrowski notched two goals in a 2-1 win over Lasell. Game three was a 1-1 tie with Wheelock and Kelly Emerson scored for St. Joe's. Gina Gaetani scored for a 1-0 win over UNE in game four. Endicott defeated SJC by a score of 3-0 in game five.
St. Joe's dropped a hotly contested 2-1 game to Ramapo College in the semi finals with Ostrowski scoring for the Monks.
Despite a lack of outside playing opportunity this spring, the SJC staff and team were pleased with the showing at the tournament and are excited about the upcoming season.
