Five SJC Field Hockey Players Named to NAC All Conference Teams

STANDISH, ME - The North Atlantic Conference has announced the 2008 Field Hockey All-Conference teams, and five players from Saint Joseph's College have been selected, by a vote from the league's seven head coaches, to the First, Second or Honorable Mention team.

Kayla Nowell '11 (Bridgton, ME) and Gina Gaetani '09 (Auburn, ME) have been named First-Team All-Conference and Julia Ostrowski '10 (Albany, NY) and Alyssa Dunn '11 (Standish, ME) have received Second Team All-NAC honors. Jillian Kimball '10 (Albany Township, ME) is an All-Conference Honorable Mention selection.

Kayla Nowell is tied for the league lead in both goals (20) and game-winning goals (5) and leads the conference with 54 points this season. Both numbers rank as the highest single-season totals in SJC field hockey history. Her two-season total of 28 goals is the most in SJC career history. She has amassed 72 points in just 39 games, which is second behind teammate Julia Ostrowski, who has 86 points. The sophomore forward was named the NAC Player of the Week on October 20th.

Gina Gaetani, the November 3rd NAC Player of the Week, receives First Team honors and ranks third on the team in goals (12) and points (28) and she is eighth in the NAC in both totals. She has also posted three defensive saves, which is the second-highest total on the team behind Kimberly Glynn '10 (Danvers, MA), who has 14 defensive stops. Her 49 career points ranks third in program history.

Julia Ostrowksi, the program's all-time leading scorer with 86 points, has been selected to the 2008 All-NAC Second Team. She leads the conference with 15 assists and is third in goals (15) and fourth in points (45). Ostrowksi received NAC Player of the Week honors on September 8th.

Alyssa Dunn has been named to the Second Team after posting an impressive sophomore campaign. As a defender she has three goals and eight assists for 14 total points. Dunn is well known for her physical style of play and her booming free hits.

Jillian Kimball, the Lady Monks' fourth-leading scorer with 19 points, receives Honorable Mention honors and ranks third in the conference with 13 assists.

Saint Joseph's (14-4, 5-1 NAC) will play at Castleton State College (13-7, 5-1) in the NAC Championship this Saturday at 1:00 PM.
