STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (4-0) cruised past Gordon College (1-3), 7-0, in a non-conference field hockey game at the SJC Athletics Complex on Monday afternoon.
THE LEAD
Five different SJC players scored in the lopsided victory with junior Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine) and freshman Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine) netting two goals apiece and Alexandra Belaire (Greene, Maine), Kayla Kelly (York, Maine), and Meghan Hill (Brookline, N.H.) each contributing a tally in the non-conference tilt.
THE KEEPERS
SJC senior goalie Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) recorded two saves in 58:16 minutes and sophomore Alexandria Simpson (Pascoag, R.I.) was untested in 11:44 minutes of relief work.
For the Fighting Scots, junior Julia Altman (Hopkinton, Mass.) posted eight saves in the first half and sophomore Jasmine Rosa (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) turned away five shots in the second stanza.

Saint Joseph's held considerable leads in shots (31-4), shots on goal (22-3) and penalty corners (13-1) in the victory.
NOTEWORTHY
- Kayla Kelly delivered two assists while Rutledge, Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine), and Arianna Kahler (Lisbon Falls, Maine) were credited with an assist apiece
- Three defensive saves were recorded on the afternoon, as SJC freshman Morgan Dalton (Livermore Falls, Maine) and Gordon's Rosalind Keeley (Winterport, Maine) and Maya Mulholland (Wethersfield, Conn.) all notched a single stop
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 3-6 all-time versus Gordon College and has now defeated the Fighting Scots in consecutive meetings for the first time in the history of the series. Seven goals is the most netted by either team in nine meetings between the New England counterparts.
