NATIONAL GIRLS & WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY
"February 3, 2021, marks the 35th Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). Every year, this celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. This year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognize the importance of staying mentally and physically healthy during challenging times. Whether virtual or other, we invite you to safely celebrate NGWSD in your community and to join the Women's Sports Foundation as we Lead Her Forward in 2021." -www.womenssportsfoundation.org

Since we are unable to visit local schools or host a free sports clinic on campus this year, we hope to inspire young female athletes by sharing the stories of our current student-athletes. We posed the same five questions to members of our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and will feature their answers and photos every day during NGWSD week.
When did you realize you had a passion for your sport?
I switched from soccer to field hockey in 5th grade and fell in love with the sport the minute I picked up my stick.
At what age did you start playing sports/your sport?
At age 10
Did someone inspire you?
My parents both inspire me to never give up on my goals in life both on and off the field. I have always been taught to stick things out during the season no matter what. They inspire me to work my hardest every time I take the field and to have fun with it.
Who is your biggest fan?
My parents are definitely my biggest fans. They always ask for my schedule the minute it comes out and they do their best to make every single game whether I play in Maine or out of state. They leave work early to make it on time and they are constantly cheering me on from the sidelines. My dad has gone to the field with me on more than one occasion to play with me and work on my skills. They always ask me how practices are going and are always willing to help me get better.
Why do you play?
I play to be healthy, to make memories with my teammates/friends and most of all to have fun.
