Monks Topple Bulldogs 10-0

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Junior Megan Quirion (Oakland, Maine) scored three goals and freshman Abbie Jacques (Mount Vernon, Maine) netted a pair with an assist to help launch Saint Joseph's College (11-2, 7-0 GNAC) past Dean College (1-10, 1-6 GNAC), 10-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey contest on Wednesday afternoon.

The Monks held a 3-0 lead after the first quarter and proceeded to rattle off five tallies in the second en route to securing an 8-0 cushion heading into halftime.

St. Joe's was held off the board in the third quarter before capping the scoring with goals from Megan Mourmouras (Biddeford, Maine) and Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) in the fourth frame.

The Monks outshot the Bulldogs by a 40-0 margin and held a 27-0 lead in penalty corners. Freshman Kassidy Collins (Gardiner, Maine) and sophomore Heather Rohr (Merrimack, N.H.) split time in net and were both untested for the Royal Blue.

Dean sophomore goalie Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) worked the first half and made nine saves, while sophomore Gabbie Taynor (Newburyport, Mass.) added six saves in the second half.

Senior Kat Conforti (Warwick, R.I.) and junior Zoe Coleman (Warwick, R.I.) each chipped in with a defensive save for the hosts.

Saint Joseph's will play at Albertus Magnus College on Saturday in a GNAC contest set to start at 11:00 AM.
