Collins & Waryas Collect GNAC Weekly Honors

STANDISH, Maine - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Kassidy Collins (Gardiner, Maine) and freshman Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) have earned weekly honors.

Collins has been selected as the GNAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week while Waryas has claimed GNAC Rookie of the Week accolades.

Collins posted a 0.50 GAA with a .933 save percentage while logging nearly 121 minutes in a pair of SJC victories last week. The sophomore keeper made a career-high 14 saves in a 2-1 overtime win over Thomas College on Wednesday.

Through six games this fall, Collins sports a 1.16 goals-against average with an .829 save percentage after making 34 saves – while allowing just seven goals – in six starts and 360 total minutes. She currently leads the GNAC in shutouts (3), ranks third in save percentage, and fourth in goals-against average.

For Collins, the weekly conference honor is the second of her career. She previously earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors on September 20th, 2021.

Waryas claims the first GNAC weekly award of her career after netting the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime victory over Thomas College on Wednesday.

In six starts this season, Waryas has netted four goals – including three game-clinchers – with two assists for 10 total points. As of September 19th, the first-year forward leads the conference in game-winning tallies.

Saint Joseph's hosts the University of Southern Maine this evening at 7:00 PM.
