FRANKLIN, Mass. – Sophomore Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) netted a hat trick to help lift Saint Joseph's College (2-3, 2-0 GNAC) past Dean College (0-5, 0-2 GNAC), 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey contest on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks kicked off the scoring in the fifth minute when Waryas pocketed her first goal of the season after picking up a rebound off an Abbie Jacques (Mount Vernon, Maine) shot. Waryas tacked on her second goal of the game at the 17:07 mark off a penalty corner play.

The 2-0 advantage remained until the 44th minute when Waryas completed the hat trick performance with a goal scored on a breakaway bid.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (12-0), shots on goal (9-0), and penalty corners (6-0) in the victory.

THE KEEPERS:

The Monks featured a pair of netminders in the triumph, as junior Kassidy Collins (Pittston, Maine) logged the first three quarters and freshman Kim McLaughlin (Lewiston, Maine) made her NCAA debut while playing the entire fourth frame. Neither SJC keeper faced a shot.

Dean senior goalie Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) turned away six shots in a losing effort.
