SAINT JOSEPH'S WINS UNE INVITATIONAL

Saint Joseph's won its first outing of the season today at the University of New England's Invitational, played at the par 71 Biddeford/Saco Country Club.

Freshman Matt Murray (Dexter, Me.) led the way for St. Joe's; while not carding the lowest score of the day (78 recorded by James Frost of USM), he tied for second with Tristan Durgin of UNE with a 79.

Not to be outdone, Francois Renaud (E.Middlebury, Vt.) shot 80, with teammates Chris DeRoche (Portland, Me.), Andy LeConte (York, Me.) and Jeff Peterson (Naples, Me.) coming in at 84, 85 and 94, respectively.

Saint Joseph's finished with a team score of 328, followed by USM with 332, UNE at 345 and Gordon at 357.

The Monks head to the Bowdoin College Invitational at Brunswick Golf Club this weekend (Sept. 10-11), and then travel on to the beautiful Samoset Resort for the Thomas College Invitational on Monday, Sept. 12.
