STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's freshman golfer Steve Simonds (Steep Falls, Maine) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.
Simonds shot an 82 (38-44) in his first collegiate tourney - the UMF Invitational on September 15th - and capped the week with a 15th-place finish in the State of Maine Championship Tournament over the weekend. The first-year golfer carded a team-best 160 (79-81) in the two-day state tourney to place 15th out of 55 total participants.
The Monks will host the John Queenan Memorial Tournament today at Point Sebago Golf Resort in Casco, Maine.
