Golf Class of 2025 Announced

STANDISH, Maine - Saint Joseph's College Golf Head Coach Jason Riley '16 has is pleased to announce the Monks Golf Class of 2025.

Coach Riley, who is about to begin his third season at the helm at SJC, is bringing in four new faces - three from Maine and one from Massachusetts - to help his squad improve upon their runner-up finish in the 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship. 

"I am thrilled to add this talented group of four freshman to our program," adds Coach Riley. "I look forward to their positive contributions on the course, in the classroom, and in the SJC community. Along with our returning players, this group will round out a squad that will challenge for a title at every tournament and be right in the mix for a GNAC title. I am excited to get them on campus and get to work!"

The Monks kick off the 2021 season with a tri-match at the Gorham Country Club on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.

  

 MEN'S GOLF CLASS OF 2025:

Alex Beecher
Major: Environmental Science
HT: 6-5 WT: 195
South Portland, Maine / South Portland High School

Why Saint Joseph's? To advance my education and prepare for my future career.

High School: Participated in golf, swimming, and tennis at South Portland High School...claimed the  Captains Award for both swimming and golf and won a Coaches' Award for swimming...listed on the Academic Honor Roll.

Personal: Alex Jeffery Beecher, son of Julie and Jeff Beecher...has one sibling, Sydney Beecher...also plans on swimming at SJC.

Cade Buckley
Major: Business & Sports Management
HT: 5-9 WT: 140
Peabody, Mass. / Bishop Fenwick High School

Why Saint Joseph's? The beautiful campus and all-around family atmosphere.

High School: Played golf, basketball, and baseball at Bishop Fenwick High School…selected as a Salem News All-Star and listed on the All-Lynn Item Team…named as the team's MVP…made three State Tournament appearances…listed on the Academic Honor Roll.

Personal: Cade Thomas Buckley, son of Richard and Kelly Buckley…has a twin sister, Mikayla.

Drew Mathieu
Major: Finance
HT: 5-10 WT: 140
Windham, Maine / Windham High School

Why Saint Joseph's? I decided to attend Saint Joseph's College for the scenic campus, a great private small school education, and to play golf.

High School: Played golf and baseball at Windham High School…named as the captain of his varsity golf team as a senior…two-time varsity golf MVP…two-time Second Team All-SMAA selection…seven-time low Medalist and two-time Class A Individual State Golf Championship qualifier…helped his team advance to the Class A Team Championship qualifier his junior year…SMAA All-Academic selection…Salutatorian and member of the National Honor Society…listed on the High Honor Roll for all quarters in high school…earned the Peter Connolly Award and named as the AP Statistics, AP Biology, and AP Chemistry Student of the Year.

Community Service: Participated in National Honor Society and Leadership Team where I was involved in various events to give back to the local community.

Personal: Drew James Mathieu, son of Jill and Derek Mathieu…has one sibling, Carter Mathieu.

Tyler Snell
Major: Marketing
HT: 5-11 WT: 170
Buxton, Maine / Thornton Academy

Why Saint Joseph's? Because of the campus location and everything it has to offer.

High School: Played golf at Thornton Academy...helped his team win the Regional Championship...listed on the Academic Honor Roll.

Personal: Tyler Jeffrey Snell, son of Julie and Nick Snell.
