Monks Win 18th Annual Queenan Memorial Tournament

CASCO, Maine – Saint Joseph's College posted a 311 team score to win the 18th Annual John Queenan Memorial Golf Tournament at the Point Sebago Golf Resort on Tuesday afternoon.

Saint Joseph's edged University of Southern Maine by one stroke, as the Huskies' effort – led by Medalist Brogan Kane (74) – fell just shy on the Monks' home course. Kane finished the 18-hole event tied with SJC junior Trevor Flanagan (Monmouth, Maine) and claimed the top finisher title via card-off after posting a par score on hole 17.

Today's top finish in the Monks' annually hosted event is the program's second since the tournament was named in honor of John Queenan prior to the 2003 competition. The Monks last captured the Queenan crown in 216 with a 302 team card.

The yearly tournament hosted by St. Joe's is named in memory of John Queenan, a 2003 graduate of Bow High School who died tragically in an automobile accident just prior to the beginning of his freshman year as a student-athlete at Saint Joseph's.

University of New England notched a 319 team card to place third, Gordon College registered a 333 team score to finish fourth, and Thomas College rounded out the top five teams with a 334 score. Maine Maritime Academy (362) and Emmanuel College (397) rounded out the field in this year's Queenan Memorial Tournament.

  • Flanagan led the way with a 74 (37-37) score and finished tied for first
