Two Men's Golfers Receive GNAC Weekly Accolades

STANDISH, Maine – The first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly golf accolades have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have been honored. Junior Trevor Flanagan (Monmouth, Maine) and freshman Cade Buckley (Peabody, Mass.) have been named as the GNAC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

For the Monks, the sweep of GNAC weekly golf awards is just the third in 15 years as a member of the conference and first since Michael Caron '17 and Cam Letourneau '19 claimed Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, on September 7th, 2015. Caron and Matt Galvin '18 was the first SJC duo to achieve the feat on September 22nd, 2014.

Flanagan led the Monks to a pair of team victories in the opening weeks of the season. The junior finished tied atop the field with a 74 card in the 18th Annual John Queenan Memorial Tournament, hosted by Saint Joseph's on Wednesday. He opened the season with a 75 card, good for fifth overall, in the USM-SJC Duel at the Gorham Country Club on September 1st.

Buckley opened his collegiate career by shooting a one-over par 72 and earning Co-Medalist honors in the USM-SJC Duel and placed fifth with a 76 score in the Queenan Memorial Tournament a week later. His play was pivotal in the Monks' 2-0 start to the 2021 season.

Saint Joseph's will compete in the Emmanuel College Invitational at the Franklin Park Golf Course in Boston on Wednesday, September 22nd.
