Monks Place Fourth at USM Fall Classic

GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's golf team placed fourth with a 630 (311-319) team card in the 36-hole University of Southern Maine Fall Classic, which was held at the Gorham Country Club on Sunday and Monday.

University of Southern Maine topped the five-team field by a wide margin, as all four of the Huskies' scorers shot below 160 en route to notching a 598 (305-293) card. Nichols College placed second (617, 302-315) and University of New England finished third (621, 310-311) while Castleton University rounded out the field with a 670 (333-337) composite score.

USM was led by John Welch, who earned Medalist honors with an even-par 142 (72-70), one stroke ahead of UNE's Thomas Higgins (72-71).
