Flanagan Tops Field, Monks Place Sixth at USM Invitational

PORTLAND, Maine – Saint Joseph's College wrapped up the 36-hole USM Invitational on Monday by placing sixth with a 641 (317-324) team score at Riverside Golf Course. Senior Trevor Flanagan (Monmouth, Maine) earned Medalist honors for the second-consecutive event with a 150 (76-74) card.

Tourney-host University of Southern Maine won the event with a 617 (312-305) composite score. Nichols College recorded a 617 card, but the Huskies won the tiebreaker via fifth-man score (83-87).

Castleton University (622), Rhode Island College (631), and University of New England (632) also competed in the invitational tourney.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Sophomore Drew Mathieu (Windham, Maine) finished in a tie for ninth with a 156 (76-80) card
  • Senior Sean McDonough (Concord, N.H.) placed 26th (163, 76-87)
  • Sophomore Alex Beecher (South Portland, Maine) finished 31st (174, 91-83)
  • Sophomore Devin Coonradt (Methuen, Mass.) was 32nd (180, 95-85)

Saint Joseph's will host the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship at the Biddeford-Saco Country Club next Monday and Tuesday.
