NEWRY, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College alpine ski teams swept the field in a giant slalom event in United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Reynolds Division action at Sunday River on Saturday. The SJC women eclipsed the field with a 4:47.83 total time and six place points while the Monks' men finished as the top team with a 4:26.51 team time and 18 place points.
For the men, sophomore Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.) placed second with a 1:25.39 (42.27 – 43.12) time as all three of the SJC competitors finished in the top nine overall.
On the women's side, all six SJC participants finished in the top 12 overall with sophomore Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) earning the individual win for the second-consecutive week with a 1:32.55 (44.77 – 47.78) performance.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Strobeck placed second with a 1:25.39 (42.27 – 43.12) time
- Sophomore Aidan Wolfinger (Bedford, N.H.) finished seventh with a 1:29.83 (43.11 – 46.72) aggregate time
- Sophomore Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) placed ninth with a 1:31.29 (44.23 – 47.06) performance
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- Pingree topped the field with a 1:32.55 (44.77 – 47.78) composite time
- Freshman Madelyn Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) placed seventh overall and second for the Monks with a 1:37.62 (46.77 – 50.85) performance
- Sophomore Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) finished eighth with a 1:37.66 (47.58 – 50.08) total time
- Sophomore Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) was 10th (1:46.10, 51.39 – 54.71)
- Freshman Lillian Souweine (Bangor, Maine) finished 12th (1:48.30, 51.70 – 56.60)
- Senior Sarah Hotchkiss (New Durham, N.H.) placed 13th (1:48.34, 51.90 – 56.44)
