STANDISH, ME -Saint Joseph's College will host the
2009 GNAC Championship game on Saturday as the third-seeded Monks
(20-7, 12-6 GNAC) are set to take on #4 Emmanuel College (17-10,
12-6) in a 2:00 PM title tip-off.
An NCAA DIII Tournament berth hangs in the balance, as the
conference champion receives an automatic qualifier into the
national tourney.
In semi-final matchups on Thursday, St. Joe's knocked out #7
Albertus Magnus, 75-64, and Emmanuel pulled off an upset victory,
94-91, in double-overtime against top-seeded Lasell College. The
GNAC championship appearance is the first for the Monks, a
second-year member of the league, and second for the Saints.
Saint Joseph's holds a 3-1 record against the Saints in the history
of the series and has defeated Emmanuel twice this season in a pair
of closely contested games. The Monks defeated the Saints at the
Alfond Center on January 19th, 73-65, and again in Boston on

15.5 points and 7.5 assists against Emmanuel this year, while

‘10 (New York, NY) has scored 20 points in both losses to the
Monks.
