Foley Named MMBCWA Co-Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior guard Griffin Foley (Portland, Maine) has been named as the MMBCWA Co-Player of the Week.

Foley averaged 25.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 50.0% (28-56) from the floor, 36.0% (9-25) from downtown, and 73.3% (11-15) from the FT line in three contests for the Monks last week. He netted a career-high 30 points in a hard-fought loss to Bowdoin on Monday, dropped 18 points with six boards in a 76-66 win at Rivier on Thursday, and scored 28 points with five assists and three boards in a conference setback at Emmanuel on Saturday.

Through 13 games this winter, Foley is averaging 17.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 46.5% (86-185), 33.3% (27-81), and 80.6% (29-36) from the field, beyond the arc, and at the charity stripe, respectively. He currently ranks fourth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in field goals made (86) and points (228), and fifth in three-pointers made (27).

For Foley, the weekly accolade is a career first. He shares the honor with University of New England guard Alex Kravchuk, who tallied 30 points and five rebounds against Western New England in the Nor'easters' only contest last week.

Saint Joseph's (3-10, 2-3 GNAC) will host conference-rival Norwich University on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
