Curtis Named MMBCWA Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writer's Association (MMBCWA) weekly awards have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior guard Nicholas Curtis (Windham, Maine) has been named as the MMBCWA Player of the Week.

Curtis averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 55.3% (21-38) from the field, 52.0% (13-25) from three-point range, and 66.7% (8-12) from the free-throw line in three conference games last week. He was nearly unstoppable in an 82-73 triumph over Dean College on Saturday as he went 11-for-16 from the floor - including a 6-for-10 effort from downtown - with 29 points in the GNAC victory.

Through 17 games this winter Curtis is averaging 20.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per contest with shooting percentages of 43.9% (116-264), 37.9% (67-177) and 80.3% (49-61) from the floor, beyond the arc, and the FT line, respectively.

For Curtis, the weekly accolade is a career first.

Curtis currently leads the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in three-pointers made (67), second in points (348), third in field goals made (116) and scoring average, fourth in free throws made (41), and fifth in FT% and steals (28).

Saint Joseph's will play at Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday in a GNAC contest slated to start at 6:30 PM.
