Frazier Earns First Career GNAC Rookie of the Week Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard John Paul Frazier (York, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week. The weekly conference accolade is the first of Frazier's young career.

Frazier averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 48% (12-25) from the field and 44.4% (8-18) from three-point distance in a 1-2 week for the Monks. The freshman guard scored 14 points with six rebounds in a one-point loss at UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday and capped the week with 12 points versus SUNY-Poly on Sunday.

Through seven games, Frazier is averaging 11.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 52.6% (30-57) from the floor and 47.4% (18-38) from three-point distance. The first-year guard has started all seven contests and is tied for the team lead in three-pointers made (18) and ranks second on the squad in field goal percentage and three-point percentage. Frazier is also second on the team in total minutes (208) and minutes per game (29.7).

Frazier is the first St. Joe's men's basketball player to garner GNAC Rookie of the Week honors since former standout Jack Casale '21 claimed the award on February 13th, 2018.

Frazier was also recognized as the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) Rookie of the Week on November 21st.

Saint Joseph's College (3-4, 0-0 GNAC) kicks off GNAC play on Saturday with a 3:00 PM home game versus Colby-Sawyer College.
