AMCATS Clip Monks, 74-72

PAXTON, Mass. – Anna Maria College (5-17, 4-10 GNAC) edged Saint Joseph's College (12-10, 8-6 GNAC), 74-72, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's basketball matchup on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The AMCATS held a game-high 17-point (45-28) advantage with 3:42 left in the first half, but the Monks posted a 15-1 run to cut their deficit to just three points heading into intermission.

Anna Maria kept Saint Joseph's at bay – and built a double-digit cushion midway through the second period – until the Royal Blue mounted a 10-2 surge in the final minutes and graduate guard Griffin Foley (Portland, Maine) knocked down a contested three-pointer to tie the game at 72-all with 13 seconds left.

Without taking a timeout, the AMCATS inbounded the ball after Foley's trifecta and drove down the court, where Kennedy Minix-Rogers hit a short jumper to give the hosts a 74-72 edge with just four seconds on the clock.

After a series of timeouts and deflected inbounds passes, the Monks managed to get the ball beyond halfcourt but failed to get a shot off before time expired.

The AMCATS shot an even 50% (28-56) from the floor while the Monks posted a 39.1% (25-64) effort from the field…Anna Maria held the lead in free throws made (17-11) and points in the paint (36-22) on the evening.
