Men's Soccer Secures Top Seed in GNAC Tournament

WINTHROP, Mass.  Defending conference champion Saint Joseph's College of Maine (11-1) has secured the top seed in the 2022 GNAC Tournament, which begins this Saturday, October 29. The Monks are winners of four of the last five GNAC crowns dating back to the 2016 campaign, as Will Pike's program will host eighth-seeded Anna Maria College at 5PM on the 29th.

Second-seeded Johnson & Wales University finished 10-0-2 against GNAC competitors and will take on seventh-seeded Lasell University this Saturday at 2:30PM. JWU won the GNAC title in 2019 but was ousted in the 2021 GNAC Semifinals by Norwich University.

Norwich, meanwhile, enters playoff action as the third seed, playing host to sixth-seeded Emmanuel College at 1PM. The Cadets were tops among GNAC teams with 46 goals in league play, with its only two league losses coming at the hands of SJC and JWU.

If SJC were to advance, it would host the winner of the GNAC's 4v5 all-Connecticut matchup between fifth-seeded Albertus Magnus College and fourth-seeded University of Saint Joseph (CT). USJ, which will host Albertus at 6PM, has now qualified for the GNAC Tournament each of the four years since sponsoring a men's soccer program beginning in 2018, capturing the No. 4 seed each of the last three seasons.

There is no reseeding throughout the GNAC Tournament, with the league champion receiving the GNAC's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
