STANDISH, Maine – Three student-athletes – sophomore Joseph Perron (South Portland, Maine), junior Nate Sottak (Belmont, N.H.), and senior Will Wood (Franklin, N.H.) - from the Saint Joseph's College men's soccer program have been selected to the College Sports Communicators' 2023 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams, as announced by the organization Tuesday.
Perron, a sophomore midfielder and Business major, scored three goals while playing in 17 games this fall. He netted the first game-winning goal of his career in a victory over New England College on September 27th.
Sottak, a junior forward, scored five goals and posted 11 total points with a pair of game-winners during the 2023 season. The Finance major was listed on the 2023 GNAC All-Academic Team.
Wood, a senior defender and team co-captain, scored a goal with a pair of assists for four total points during the 2023 campaign. The 2023 GNAC All-Academic honoree earned First Team All-Conference honors this fall and claimed Second Team All-GNAC and Third Team All-Region mention in 2022.
The 2023 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 19 (men) and December 20 (women). The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links provided below.
In order to be eligibility for nomination, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches or must start in at least 66 percent of the matches. Additionally, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
