Monks Host Double-Dual with Husson & Gordon

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College hosted a double-dual swim meet in the Harold Alfond Pool on Saturday afternoon. The SJC men split the day with an 88-59 win over Gordon College and a 148-46 setback at the hands of Husson University while the women fell to Gordon, 112-94, and Husson, 138-70.

Husson swept the day on both sides, with men's triumphs over the Monks and Gordon (151-29) and women's wins against St. Joe's and the Fighting Scots (158-78).

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Senior Camden Thaxter (Yarmouth, Maine) won the 100-Free (55.62), was the runner-up in the 50-Breast (34.21) and finished fourth in the 500-Free (5:58.54)
  • Senior Ryan Watson (Glenburn, Maine) finished second in the 200-Free (2:03.30), 400-IM (5:18.49), and 500-Free (5:32.74)
  • Freshman Alex Beecher (South Portland, Maine) placed third in the 50-Breast (35.70) and 500-Free (5:54.52) and was fourth in the 200-Free (2:06.74)
  • Sophomore Shawn Perry (Plaistow, N.H.) was third in the 400-IM (5:18.65) and fourth in the 50-Back (31.62) and 50-Fly (29.54) events
  • Senior Michael Hagerty (Yarmouth, Maine) finished fourth in the 100-Free (1:01.32) and was fifth in the 200-Free (2:15.53) and 50-Free (26.48)

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Freshman Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) won the 50-Fly (29.59) and 200-Back (2:25.53)
  • Freshman Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) won the 50-Free (26.40) and placed second in the 200-Free (2:05.62) and 200-Fly (2:42.94) events
  • Sophomore Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) won the 400-IM (5:28.08), finished second in the 50-Back (31.94), and was third in the 50-Breast (37.21)
  • Senior Hannah Kibbin (Augusta, Maine) was fourth in the 50-Breast (39.45)
  • Sophomore Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) placed fourth in the 100-Free (1:08.99) and the 200-Breast (3:01.86)
  • Sophomore Rylie Perron (Wells, Maine) was fifth in the 100-Free (1:11.51)

Saint Joseph's will host Maine Maritime Academy next Saturday at 12:00 PM. As a friendly reminder, spectators are not allowed at SJC home events through January 31st. This pandemic-related policy will be reviewed for home events beyond this date in the coming weeks.
