Monks Compete in 2022 GNAC Swimming & Diving Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College is competing in the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships at the Boston Sports Institute on the campus of Wellesley College this weekend.

FINAL STANDINGS: Men, 4th (73 pts); Women, 7th (332 pts)

  • 200-Medley Relay (women): Podsiadlo, Thompson, Twombly, Matthews – 2:00.08 (former record: 2:03.05)
  • 50-Free (women): Matthews - 25.50 (former record (Beauregard): 26.15)

SUNDAY RESULTS - WOMEN:

  • Freshman Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) registered 38 individual points after placing fourth with program-record times in the 200-Free (2:00.36) and 50-Free (25.50) events
  • Freshman Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) placed fifth in the 50-Breast (33.54)
  • Freshman Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) finished sixth in the 400-IM (5:19.53) and ninth in the 200-Free (2:06.44) for a total of 31 points
  • Sophomore Eliza Nadeau (Raymond, Maine) placed ninth in the 400-IM (6:37.59)
  • Sophomore Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) was 12th in the 50-Breast (37.74) and 13th in the 200-Breast (2:59.82) for a tally of 17 points
  • Senior Hannah Kibbin (Augusta, Maine) chipped in with 12 total points after placing 14th in the 200-Breast (3:01.77) and 16th in the 50-Breast (38.87)
  • Twombly, Matthews, Podsiadlo and sophomore Rylie Perron (Wells, Maine) produced 32 points by finishing seventh in the 800-Free relay (9:02.16)

SATURDAY RESULTS - WOMEN:

  • Twombly notched 30 points individually by placing seventh in the 200-Back (2:24.00) and ninth in the 100-Breast (1:15.01)
  • Podsiadlo placed eighth in the 500-Free (5:39.87)
  • Kibbin was 12th in the 200-IM (2:51.91)
  • Thompson finished 18th in the 100-Breast (1:23.65)
  • Perron was 20th in the 50-Back (35.00)

FRIDAY RESULTS - WOMEN:

  • Podsiadlo, Thompson, Twombly, and Matthews finished seventh in the 200-Medley relay with a program-record 2:00.08 time
  • Matthews, Podsiadlo, Twombly and Thompson placed seventh in the 200-Free relay with a 1:46.21 time
  • Nadeau was 21st in the 1000-Free (14:27.26)

SUNDAY RESULTS - MEN:

  • Senior Camden Thaxter (Yarmouth, Maine) placed eighth in the 200-Breast (2:44.58) and ninth in the 50-Breast (33.04)
  • Freshman Alex Beecher (South Portland, Maine) finished eighth in the 200-Free (1:59.40)
  • Sophomore Shawn Perry (Plaistow, N.H.) was ninth in the 200-Fly (2:29.65)
  • Senior Michael Hagerty (Yarmouth, Maine) placed 10th in the 50-Free (25.63)
  • Senior Ryan Watson (Glenburn, Maine) finished 10th in the 400-IM (5:02.24)
  • Thaxter, Beecher, Watson and Perry finished fourth in the 800-Free relay with a 8:17.58 effort

SATURDAY RESULTS – MEN:

  • Watson was seventh in the 500-Free (5:20.51)
  • Perry finished eighth in the 200-IM (2:20.25)
  • Beecher placed eighth in the 500-Free (5:31.41)
  • Senior Joseph Nichols (Tyngsborough, Mass.) finished ninth in the 200-IM (2:39.21)
  • Hagerty was 10th in the 50-Back (31.63)

FRIDAY RESULTS - MEN:

  • Thaxter, Beecher, Hagerty, and Watson finished fourth in the 200-Free relay (1:38.74)
  • Watson placed seventh in the 1000-Free (11:08.70)
  • Hagerty was 11th in the 1000-Free (12:57.82)
