Monks Close Out 2021-22 Season at NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. – Saint Joseph's College competed in the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving (NEISDA) Championships this weekend with the men placing eighth (142 points) and the women posting an 11th-place finish (332 points).

First-years Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) and Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) highlighted the weekend for the Monks by breaking a pair of team records. Twombly set a new 100-IM team record with a 1:05.25 effort while Matthews broke the SJC 100-Free mark with a 55.00 time.

Overall, seven individuals advanced to the finals in 22 events combined and St. Joe's competed in seven relay finals events.

Twombly paced the Royal Blue with 83 total points while Matthews tallied 70 points and sophomore Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) posted 59. The St. Joe's relay teams raced in three events with 114 points combined.

On the men's side, senior Ryan Watson (Glenburn, Maine) registered 19 points, sophomore Shawn Perry added 10 and freshman Alex Beecher (South Portland, Maine) chipped in with four points. The SJC men competed in four relay finals events and totaled 96 points.
