Monks Compete in Suffolk’s Ice Breaker Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College men's and women's indoor track & field teams hit the track at THE TRACK by New Balance for the Suffolk University Ice Breaker Invitational over the weekend. The meet, boasting a substantial 1,409 entries, marked a significant event in the Monks' calendar this year. Twenty teams from the North East Region, including some formidable Division I and II competitors like the UConn Huskies, UMass Lowell River Hawks, and Franklin Pierce, added intensity to the competition.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Senior Ryan Farr had a stellar 200-meter dash race for 11th place (22.66) to set a new personal record. Farr also placed tenth in the 400-meter dash with a 51.88
  • Freshman Jacob Schmader placed seventh in the 400-meter dash with his 51.15 mark to set a new collegiate best. Schmader also hit a season-best in the 200-meter dash (23.28)
  • Freshman Tudum Monday placed fifth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 12.67m. Monday also competed in the 60-meter hurdles (9.32) and Long Jump 96.10m)
  • Sophomore Abdirizak Abukar placed 16th in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 22.70 and finished with a 7.31 final time in the 60-meter dash
  • Freshman Wesley Merrill competed in the 60-meter dash (7.42) and 200-meter dash (23.61) to set two college personal bests
  • Senior Wesley Hundley had himself a day in the Weight Throw with a new PR throw of 11.55m. Hundley also launched the Shot Put for a 10.78m mark
  • Sophomore Noah Batoosingh had a stand-out 60-meter dash setting a new personal best with a mark of 7.53 to win his heat. Batoosingh also laid down a 24.21 mark in the 200-meter dash
  • Freshman Carl Peters finished the 60-meter dash in 7.60 and crossed the finish line in 24.25 in the 200-meter dash for two new personal bests
  • Senior Ethan Tardif doubled in the 60-meter dash (8.07) and 200-meter dash (26.21)
  • Junior Tyler Ricker placed 12th in the 400-meter run with a 52.00 flat. Ricker also leaped to a 5.67m mark in the Long Jump for 29th
  • Sophomore John McManus clocked in a 24.33 in the 200-meter dash and 53.83 in the 400-meter dash
  • Freshman Gehrig Hatch had two personal bests in both the 200-meter run (25.26) and 60-meter hurdles (10.76)
  • Freshman Jonah Naratil ended the day with a 6.04m mark in the Long Jump and a 9.40 effort in the 60-meter hurdles
  • Sophomore Jacob Pelletier placed 29th in the 3000-meter Run with a 9:17.20 mark
  • Senior Nick Carmosino placed 29th in the 1000m to set a new college best mark of 2:48 (six seconds shaved off from his previous 2:54 mark last week)
  • Junior Ryan Graham placed 30th in the 1000m (2:50.39) and 44th in the Mile (4:44)
  • Freshman Andrew James threw the Shot Put (10.83m) and Weight Throw (8.86m)
  • Freshman Matthew Corriveau jumped to a 14th place finish in the Long Jump (6.21m) and placed 16th in the High Jump with a mark of 1.70m. Corriveau also competed in the 200-meter dash clocking in at 23.48
  • Sophomore Brayden Grant ran the 800-meter Run in 2:15.56 for a new indoor individual best
  • Sophomore Seth Quinney left the throwing circle today with an 8.62m mark in the Weight Throw (28th)
  • Freshman Gaberyel Balch hit 6.64m in his Weight Throw effort
  • Junior Jesse Tidd competed to a 27.94 mark in the 200-meter dash
  • Sophomore Alexander Greslick threw for 6.33m in the Weight Throw
  • Freshman Younton Diamond Doe made his 60-meter dash debut with a 7.41 mark (36th)
  • Freshman Colin Brown cruised to a 3:25 mark in the 1000-meter run (36th)

 

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Senior Brooklyn Goff competed in a full day of events with marks in the Long Jump (4.43m), 60-meter hurdles (10.03), and 200-meter dash (28.76)
  • Freshman Alexis Cowan placed 18th overall in the Triple Jump with a 8.94 mark. Cowan didn't end there as she also competed in the 200-meter dash (30.88) and Long Jump (4.33m)
  • Freshman Breya Whitman placed 15th overall in the High Jump for a 1.50m mark
  • Junior Lindy Hyndman made her debut in the Triple Jump and placed 20th (8.44m). Hyndman also competed in the 60-meter dash (9.14)
  • Senior Abby O'Brien held down the fort for the women throwers with her 12.55m in the Weight Throw (16th place)
  • Freshman Ava Smart ran a strong 400-meter run to clock a 1:07.15 mark for the day
  • Sophomore Alexia Young finished 19th in her Triple Jump effort (8.73m). Young also raced in the 200-meter dash (29.44) and 400-meter dash (1:06.82)
  • Freshman Ava Moffett set a personal best in the 3000-meter run (13:47.73) and cruised through the Mile run in 6:42.40
  • Freshman Samira Mouhamed tripled in the 60-meter dash (10.60), 200-meter dash (36.08), and 60-meter hurdles (13.76). All season-best marks for Mouhamed
  • Freshman Selena Huot ran 9.35 in her 60-meter dash effort and finished with a 32.31 mark in the 200-meter dash
  • Rookie freshman Audrey Bilodeau joined the Monks for her season debut, Bilodeau set two marks in the 200-meter dash (29.72) and 60-meter hurdles (11.41)
  • Freshman Alayah Schmitz clocked a 30.80 mark in her season-best 200-meter dash performance
  • Junior Terry Cassetta finished the 3000-meter run in 14:25.76
  • Junior Kate Luiz finished the meet with a 1:12.78 mark in the 400-meter run and a 31.17 mark in the 200-meter dash
