Monks Compete at USM Husky Invitational

­GORHAM, MAINE – Saint Joseph's College men's and women's indoor track & field teams traveled down the road to Southern Maine for the USM Husky Invitational where they competed in a 10 contender meet (Assumption, Southern Maine, Franklin Pierce, SNHU, Plymouth State, Husson, Suffolk, Castleton, York County CC, and Saint Joe's). Both Southern Maine teams took home the team titles with the Men scoring 134.5 points and the Women collecting 106 points.

The meet was highlighted with efforts from Freshman Diamond Doe who placed first in his 200-meter dash effort to qualify for the East Region Championship. Junior Kate Luiz took home fourth to highlight the women's team's effort in today's contest. "11 jumpers (men and women combined) represented the Long and Triple… leading the way with huge personal bests was Devonte prom, 9th in the long and 6th in the triple. Many of the men claimed positions in both finals of long and triple", highlights Coach Hefty. "On the women's side, 5 out of the 6 are new jumpers, who continue to improve and put down solid marks."

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Noah Batoosingh placed ninth in the 55-meter dash with a new personal best mark of 6.93
  • Rookie Freshman Diamond Doe placed first overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.95. With this mark, Doe has punched his ticket to the East Regional Championship. He now ranks third in the conference behind teammates Farr (22.46) and Abukar (22.32)
  • Freshman Matthew Corriveau placed third overall in the 400-meter dash clocking in at 52.10. Corriveau also placed seventh in the Triple Jump with his 11.77m (38'7.5") effort.
  • Freshman Tudum Monday placed fourth in the Long Jump (6.48m / 21'3.25") and eleventh in the High Jump (1.65m / 5'5"). Both of these marks are season bests for Monday
  • Junior Tyler Ricker placed eighth in the 400-meter dash crossing the line in 52.62
  • Senior Nick Carmosino placed sixth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:34.61
  • Sophomore Brayden Grant clocked a 1:34.92 in the 600-meter run for seventh place
  • Sophomore John McManus paced for a 2:15.69 800-meter run to finish sixth overall
  • Freshman Emilson Zocolo finished the day with a college best mark of 2:16.76 in the 800-meter run. The rookie also placed eleventh in the mile (5:21.39)
  • Freshman Kyle Benson kicked into another gear to place seventh, setting a new personal best, in the 1000-meter run (3:24.26)
  • Freshman Colin Brown placed eighth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:25.58
  • Sophomore Alexey Seredin finished ninth in the mile with a mark of 5:01.03
  • Freshman Jonah Naratil finished seventh with a mark of 9.01 in the 55-meter hurdles
  • Sophomore Seth Quinney placed seventh in the Weight Throw (10.80m / 35'5.25") and got a new personal best in the Shot Put for a mark of 10.70m (35'1.25")
  • Freshman Devonte Prom places sixth in the Triple Jump (12.05m / 39'6.5"), ninth in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.89m (19'4"), and finished 21st in the 55-meter dash
  • Freshman Carl Peters placed eighth in the Triple Jump (11.53m)
  • Freshman Gehrig Hatch placed ninth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.13m (36'6.25"). Hatch also placed thirteenth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.57)
  • Senior Wesley Hundley finished fourth in the Weight Throw with a HUGE personal best of a 12.21m (40'.75"). Hundley also placed fourteenth in the Shot Put (11.22m / 36'9.75") and nineteenth in the 55-meter dash (7.33)
  • Freshman Andrew James threw the shot for a 12.48 (40'11.5") mark to place fourth. James also got a new personal best in the Weight Throw (10.12m / 33'2.5") for eleventh

 

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Junior Kate Luiz placed fourth overall in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 1:12.33
  • Freshman Alexis Cowan placed ninth in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.23m (13'10.5")
  • Freshman Alayah Schmitz placed tenth in the Long Jump for a mark of 3.84m (12'7.25")
  • Junior Lindy Hyndman placed eleventh in the Long Jump (3.78m / 12'5") and twelfth in the 55-meter dash (8.29)
  • Freshman Selena Huot had a set of personal bests in both the 55-meter dash (8.88) and the Long Jump (3.69m / 12'1.25")
  • Freshman Samira Mohamed also set a pair of personal bests in her events. Mohamed was fourteenth in the Long Jump with a mark of 3.57m (11.8.5") and eighteenth in the 55-meter dash (9.83)
  • Junior Terry Cassetta placed sixteenth in the 3000-meter run clocking in at 14:31.75
  • Sophomore Sarah Joe threw 7.88 (25'10.25") in the Weight Throw (22nd) and 7.04m (23'1.25) in the Shot Put (31st)
