Monks Repeat as GNAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Champions!

BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College men's indoor track & field team successfully defended their place atop the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a convincing performance in the 2024 GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center on Sunday.

The Monks tallied 244 points – the most ever in a GNAC indoor title event – and more than doubled the output by runner-up Regis College, which notched 107 points in today's 16-event championship. Colby-Sawyer College finished third (81 pts), Lasell University was fourth (32 pts), and Emmanuel College capped the five-team field with 27 points.

Saint Joseph's won 11 of the 16 events and featured 26 podium performances overall.

"Really proud of our Men's and Women's programs right now," adds Head Coach Mike Burleson.  " There was a lot of Monk pride out there this weekend. Our athletes have bought in and have been putting in the work all season and it's great when it pays off at championship time. Thankful to our seniors for their leadership and excited for what our returners will do in the future. This was certainly a special day in Monks' Track & Field history."

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Junior Ryan Graham topped the field in the 3000-Meter (9:50.67) and 5000-Meter (16:19.02) events and placed second in the 1-Mile (4:42.59) for a team-high 28 individual points
  • Sophomore Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) won the 60-Meter (7.10) and 200-Meter (22.17) events
  • Freshman Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) raced to top finishes in the 800-Meter (1:58.27) and 1-Mile (4:41.59) events
  • Senior Wesley Hundley (Kennebunk, Maine) won the Weight Throw event with a 13.42m toss and finished third in the Shot Put (11.35m)
  • Freshman Andrew James (Bar Harbor, Maine) won the Shot Put with a 12.09m heave and placed fifth in the Weight Throw (10.76m)
  • Senior Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) won the 400-Meter (49.97) and placed fourth in the 200-Meter (22.99)
  • Freshman Jacob Schmader (Limington, Maine) finished second in the 400-Meter (50.67) and fifth in the 200-Meter (23.11)
  • Freshman Younton Diamond Doe (Pawtucket, R.I.) placed second in the 800-Meter (1:59.89) and third in the 60-Meter (7.20)
  • Freshman Tudum Monday (Lewiston, Maine) was second in the Long Jump (6.37m) and third in the Triple Jump (12.56m)
  • Sophomore Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) finished second in the 5000-Meter with a 16:27.01 effort
  • Sophomore Alexey Seredin (Peaks Island, Maine) placed second in the 3000-Meter (9:55.83) and fourth in the 5000-Meter (17:08.60)
  • Freshman Matthew Corriveau posted third-place finishes in the 200-Meter (22.85), High Jump (1.75m), and Long Jump (6.27m)
  • Junior Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, Vt.) finished third in the 400-Meter (50.80) and sixth in the Long Jump (5.92m)
  • Senior Nick Carmosino placed fifth in the 1-Mile (4:55.90) and 10th in the 800-Meter (2:10.89)
  • Sophomore Griffin Cooney was fourth in the 1-Mile (4:49.39) and seventh in the 800-Meter (2:05.19)
  • Sophomore Seth Quinney (Northwood, N.H.) finished third in the Weight Throw (10.95m) and fifth in the Shot Put (11.26m)
  • Freshman Devonte Prom (Portland, Maine) was fifth in the Long Jump (6.03m) and Triple Jump (11.94m) events
  • Sophomore Brayden Grant (Rochester, N.H.) placed fourth in the Pole Vault (2.50m)
  • Freshman Jonah Naratil (Porter, Maine) was third in the Pole Vault (2.95m) and sixth in the 60-Meter Hurdles (9.31)
  • Junior John McManus (Shrewsbury, Mass.) placed fifth in the 800-Meter with a 2:04.11 time
  • Abukar, Ricker, Farr and Schmader won the 4x400 Meter Relay with a 3:29.45 performance
  • Cooney, Doe, McManus and Ramadan won the Distance Medley with an 11:22.9 time

Saint Joseph's will compete in the NCAA DIII Regional Championships at THE Track at New Balance in Boston on February 25th and 26th.
