Three Team Records Broken in 2021 Opener

GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College indoor track & field teams competed at University of Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon. The SJC women placed third with 43 points while the St. Joe's men finished fourth with 60 points.

Three program records fell in what was the Monks' 2021 season-opener, as first-year Junne Robertson-McIntire (Belfast, Maine) set a new 55-Meter dash mark with a 7.50 time, junior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) broke the SJC 3200-Meter run record (10:19.35), and sophomore Simon Vinci (Peabody, Mass.) topped his own Weight Throw team record with a 14.41m distance.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Simon Vinci (Peabody, Mass.) won both throwing events by wide margins with a 14.19m toss in the Shot Put and a 14.41m heave – a new team record - in the Weight Throw
  • Freshman Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) won the 200-Meter dash (23.60) and was fifth in the 55-Meter dash (6.87)
  • Freshman Sean Wedgewood (Porter, Maine) finished second in the Pole Vault (3.35m)
  • Senior Michael Mason (East Bridgewater, Mass.) placed third in the 400-Meter dash (55.09)
  • Junior Tyler Nadeau (Farmingdale, Maine) finished fourth in the 55-Meter dash (6.85) and fifth in the 200-Meter dash (24.09)
  • Junior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) placed fourth with a new team record in the 3200-Meter run (10:19.35)
  • Senior Kristopher Mason (Hiram, Maine) was fifth in the Weight Throw (9.60m) and seventh in the Shot Put (8.69m)
  • Junior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) was fifth in the 3200-Meter run (10:50.47)
  • First-year Wesley Hundley (Kennebunk, Maine) placed fourth in the Long Jump (5.65m) and sixth in the 200-Meter dash (24.82)
  • Sophomore Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine) finished sixth in the 1-Mile run (5:24.00)
  • Junior Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was seventh in the 400-Meter dash (1:00.17) and 17th in the 200-Meter dash (27.18)
  • Freshman Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) finished seventh in the 800-Meter run (2:11.56)
  • Senior Brandon Whitlock (Westbrook, Maine) was eighth in the 800-Meter run (2:29.92)
  • Junior Shawn Breen (Plymouth, N.H.) placed 18th in the 200-Meter dash (27.70)
  • Farr, Hundley, Nadeau and Rice placed third in the 4x200-Meter relay (1:40.12)
  • Abbott, Carmosino, Hendricks and Mason finished fourth in the Distance Medley (12:13.17)

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Freshman Hanna Roy (Auburn, Maine) won the 400-Meter dash with a 1:10.01 effort and was fifth in the 200-Meter dash (31.01)
  • Junior Julia Heroux (Albion, R.I.) won the 1-mile run with a 6:14.98 time
  • Freshman Junne Robertson-McIntire (Belfast, Maine) broke the program's 55-Meter dash record with a 7.50 time in the prelims and finished second with a 7.60 effort in the finals
  • Junior Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) placed second in the 1-Mile run (6:17.61)
  • Junior Samantha Antimere (Thornton, N.H.) placed fourth in the 800-Meter run (2:34.75)
  • Freshman Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) was fourth in the Triple Jump (8.08m), seventh in the Long Jump (3.97m), eighth in the Shot Put (7.88m) and ninth in the Weight Throw (7.44m)
  • Junior Julie Unczur (Danvers, Mass.) placed fifth in the 55-Meter dash (9.18) and 12th in the Shot Put (6.78m)
  • Junior Emma Allen (Jefferson, Maine) was seventh in the 55-Meter hurdles (10.65)
  • Freshman Danielle Vermette (New Boston, N.H.) finished eighth in the 55-Meter hurdles (11.68) and 10th in the Shot Put (7.53m)
  • Junior Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.) finished eighth in the Weight Throw (8.42m) and ninth in the Shot Put (7.85m)
  • Senior Meghan Glisson (Merrimack, N.H.) was 11th in the 800-Meter run
  • Glisson, Heroux, Jordan and Roy posted a third-place finish in the Distance Medley (14:58.23)
