Colby-Sawyer Edges Saint Joseph's for GNAC Men's Outdoor Championship

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Colby-Sawyer College on Sunday. The men finished second with 206 points, just seven behind Colby-Sawyer, while the women placed fourth with 92 points.

On the men's side, Colby-Sawyer paced the five-team field with 213 points while Saint Joseph's finished second (206), Regis College was third (113), Emmanuel College placed fourth (56), and Lasell University was fifth (49).

Emmanuel cruised to the women's title with 244 points, well ahead of runner-up Colby-Sawyer (183), while Regis placed third (99), Saint Joseph's was fourth (92), and Lasell finished fifth (26).

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Senior James Benson (Gorham, Maine) won four events with top finishes in the 100-Meter (11.23), 200-Meter (22.62), Long Jump (6.29m) and Triple Jump (12.27m); including a sixth-place finish in the Discus Throw (28.34m), Benson totaled a team-high 41 points
  • Senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) won the 3000-Meter Steeplechase (10:32.55) and 5000-Meter (17:05.82) events and finished second in the 1500-Meter (4:18.22) for a total of 28 points
  • Senior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) won the 10,000-Meter with a 35:42.56 time, placed second in the 5000-Meter (17:26.07), and was third in the 3000-Meter Steeplechase (11:07.22) with a total of 24 points
  • Freshman Dylan Dickey (Laconia, N.H.) tallied 24 points after winning the Javelin Throw (53.42m), placing second in the High Jump (1.85m), and third in the Discus Throw (30.22m)
  • Junior Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) won the High Jump (1.85m), placed second in the Triple Jump (12.19m), and fourth in the Long Jump (6.10m) and contributed 22 points to the team total
  • Sophomore Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) won the 400-Meter (51.10), placed second in the 200-Meter Dash (22.85), and eighth in the 100-Meter Dash (11.84) with 18 points
  • Freshman Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, Vt.) notched nine points after posting fourth-place finishes in the 400-Meter Run (53.43) and Triple Jump (11.54m) events with a sixth-place effort in the Long Jump (5.77m)
  • Junior Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine) placed third in the 10,000-Meter with a 36:29.33 effort and was sixth in the 5000-Meter (17:49.16) for seven total points
  • Freshman Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.) placed fourth in the 1500-Meter (4:23.31) and fifth in the 5000-Meter (17:48.74) to contribute six points
  • Sophomore Wesley Hundley (Kennebunk, Maine) placed fourth in the Shot Put (10.37m)
  • Sophomore Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) was fifth in the 400-Meter hurdles (1:05.26)
  • First-year Ethan Shaw (Scarborough, Maine) posted a fifth-place finish in the 3000-Meter Steeplechase (11:37.87)
  • Senior Tyler Nadeau (Farmingdale, Maine) was sixth in the 800-Meter Run (2:11.13)
  • Farr, Carmosino, Ricker and Benson placed second in the 4x400-Meter relay (3:37.30)
  • Devin Abbott, Carmosino, Graham and Hendricks finished third in the 4x800-Meter relay (9:28.53)
  • Carmosino, Shawn Breen (Plymouth, N.H.), Jesse Tidd (Portland, Maine) and Ricker placed fourth in the 4x100-Meter relay (47.95)
