Outdoor Season Concludes at NCAA Division III New England Championship

WILLIAMS, MA. – The Men's Track and Field team sent four individuals and a relay team to Williams College this past weekend for the NCAA Division III New England Championship. This is the first time since 2019 the Monks have participated in the event due to the pandemic's cancelations of the 2020 and 2021 seasons. 

In this 50-team competition, MIT came out on top for the men with a total of 110.5 points with a 34.5-point lead over runner up Tufts University with 76 points. The Monks were able to snag 1.5 points during the two-day event with the help form Junior Ashtyn Abbott with his sixth-place finish in the High Jump. St.Joes was the only GNAC team to score at this championship event placing 28th overall. 

 

THE RUNDOWN :

  • Junior Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) placed sixth in the High Jump with a 1.86 leap
  • Rookie Dylan Dickey (Laconia, N.H.) placed ninth in the Javelin throw with a 53.03m mark 
  • Senior James Benson (Gorham, Maine) ran his heart out representing the Monks well placing 11th in the 100 Meter Dash (11.20) which now stands as the new school record. Benson also placed 19th in the 200 Meter Dash with a 22.89 mark
  • Senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) finished 18th in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a 10:23.34 mark 
  • Farr, Carmosino, Ricker and Benson placed 14th in the 4x400 Meter Relay to set a new school record with a 3:34.60 mark
